Emerald Downs announces Quarter Horse racing
Muckleshoot Tribal Dash/John Deere Bonus Challenge to take place on Saturday, September 25
August 29, 2010
Emerald Downs announced this afternoon that it will host the first Quarter Horse race in the track’s 15-year history on Saturday, September 25.
The $10,000 Muckleshoot Tribal Dash/John Deere Bonus Challenge is an open 350-yard event with a maximum field of 10 horses. The entry fee is $200, with high weights preferred. Weights will be announced after entries close on Wednesday, September 22.
The Bank of America Racing Challenge and Emerald Downs will each contribute $5,000 in purse money, and all entry fees will go to the winner.
The John Deere Bonus Challenge is designed to provide even more racing opportunities for Challenge-enrolled horses at racetracks across the country, and horses entering the race must be enrolled in the Challenge program.
Emerald Downs has been exclusively a Thoroughbred venue since opening in 1996. The Quarter Horse race will be held on the 89th day of the expanded 90-day meeting—the track recently announced it would host a special matinee-racing card on Wednesday, September 22, with first post at 1:00 p.m.
